Satire as Reality
I stumbled over to the Onion today and just about died laughing over this blurb on Al Gore. It’s rare to see satire hit the mark this well.
Enough out of me…read the page yourself.

good report on the man who invented the internet

At least he did it using deferred PowerPoint credits.
Gore actually claimed that he was instrumental in the development of the Internet.
“During my service in the United States Congress, I took the initiative in creating the Internet.”
Gore saw the potential for a fully networked US infrastructure and as both a senator and VP, worked to provide funding for DARPA. However, DARPA had already developed ARPANet, so he did exaggerate his importance and lied about when he was involved. He wasn’t there at the beginning, as he wasn’t even a congressman until eight years after ARPANet was up and running, but he most certainly helped out the project as it developed later on.
Typical political move of claiming more credit than credit due. Kind of makes you wonder if he follows the same pattern with his carbon credit nonsense.
