Ted Kennedy

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts, died yesterday of brain cancer. His health was apparently on a downward turn for some years now.

In tribute to his legacy, I would like to list all of the accomplishments Senator Kennedy made in preserving liberty and Constitutional doctrine in the United States during his many years in government:

Tactless Sinister Assholes (TSA)

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

If you’ve done any reading on the bullying, abusive, malignant insanity foisted by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), (also known as Tactless Sinister Assholes) upon hapless air passengers, then you probably have a very clear picture of just how useless this entire organization is. They represent, not real security, but a theater act. People are pulled out of line for no reason which makes any sense. Clearly stupid regulations are put into place as to what cannot be carried on a plane. Clearly stupid behavior is exhibited by the TSA slime who man the security lines. People’s right to privacy and security are being infringed by these government goons in strip searches and pat downs. Property which could not be used to down a plane or take it over, is confiscated. Last, but not least, policing power is being abused at levels which reminds one of the Gestapo of the Third Reich, where charges are pretty much invented against individuals who have done absolutely nothing wrong.

Most of the TSA morons are not qualified enough to push a broom, but give them a tin badge and they’ll take their minimal IQ and devote it to causing misery for air travelers. I long ago stopped flying, because I don’t like being treated like a criminal in my own country.

Don’t believe me? Pick your favorite Web search engine and search for "TSA sucks". Read the links and the comments on those pages which have them. The stories are profuse.

I’ve read quite a few accounts which makes my blood boil, but this one has to be one of the worst. The TSA insanity is plainly showing.

Marching Toward Swine Flu

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

As if the march toward a police state in America isn’t happening quickly enough, now the scare of a pandemic, swine flu, has the military desiring to use troops on US soil in the event.

Considering how poorly the aftermath of hurricane Katrina was handled, I have a difficult time believing an actual outbreak will be dealt with any more efficiently or any more politely. People were forced out of their homes, even when they were not in danger. People had their weapons confiscated so that they couldn’t defend themselves. Troops patrolled the streets like it was a war zone.

None of this report mentions military physicians, just military personnel. That means that there are those in government planning for one or more of the following; forced vaccinations, forced quarantine, forced relocation, quelling civil disorder (possibly including weapon confiscation) and even full scale martial law.

Why do I use the word “forced” here? Because that’s all the military does, is use force. That’s what the military is designed to do. There is no respect for the Constitution, no respect for local laws, just military power and authority. While I’m absolutely certain that there are those in the military who take their oath seriously and would refuse unethical orders given, there are just as many who would follow any order, due to their indoctrination to the military programming of behavior. That can lead to a very dangerous situation and violation our liberties.

When the John Warner National Defense Authorization Act was signed into law in 2007, Posse Comitatus, the prohibition of using military force within the US for local law enforcement, was erroded. Sanity eventual returned in 2008, when this portion of the JWNDAA was repealed. If the military goes through with this plan, they will be doing so in direct violation of Posse Comitatus. There’s no need for it, either. The National Guard has long been exempt from Posse Comitatus, when called up by a state governor. If a situation arises where military personnel are needed, the Guard can handle it. It’s part of their designed duty and their training.

In any case, something bad is afoot if the government is even entertaining this idea. I also find it quite interesting how the press continues to hype up the case for a major pandemic in the fall, as if the government has had any success in predicting disease outbreaks of any kind. Why the certainty?

There are more questions than answers in the whole affair.

We’re Broke – Pay up!

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Senator Kent Conrad-D, North Dakota was on the floor of the senate this week, calling for a federal Value Added Tax (VAT) of 20-25% on all goods. The frightening part is not that this message was brought to the table, because it has been brought up many times before. The frightening part is that the senate was general receptive to the idea.  The further horror, is that unlike previous proposals to replace income tax with a VAT, this proposal would not do so.  It is simply another tax added on to all the others we already pay!

So, just what is a value added tax, one might ask? Unlike a national sales tax, which would add 20-25% of the item’s price onto the item at the checkout counter, it would instead add 20-25% of the item’s original price, putting it directly onto the listed item price, hiding the tax in the cost of the item itself. This is an effective means of camouflage to confuse gullible consumers into thinking that the item cost is simply what they see on the tag and that such is set by the manufacturer and retailer.

This means that if you have a power drill which now costs $100, the price tag will be changed to $125 and then the state sales tax (if your state has such) will be added on as a percentage of the $125. (Which means that unless the cash register adjusts for the VAT, you’re paying tax on a tax.)

Federal gasoline taxes works like this now. It is in the pump cost listed and only known to the consumer if you read the fine print labels on the pump.  (You didn’t honestly think that the money you’re spending on gasoline was just for the fuel, did you?)

First and foremost, what gall does Senator Conrad have? He wants us to pay an extra quarter on every dollar for all purchases! Where does the Constitution allow for a VAT or sales tax by the federal government?  25%?  The worst state sales tax I’ve heard of is around 9%.  Talk about greed!

Secondly, this is a tacit admission by the government that things are just as bad as we think they are. The federal government is broke with it’s monumentally stupid spending and now must seek measures to prevent complete collapse.

Third, if this doesn’t show the tax-and-spend mindset of the Democratic party, nothing does.

Take some time to figure out the impact on your life, if this becomes reality.

Start with your grocery bill. Take what you spend on groceries in a week and multiply it by 1.25. What’s the end result? Without changing your diet, your food is suddenly going to cost this much more.

How about just buying a can of pop from a machine, currently at $0.75. That can of pop just jumped to $0.93, which will most likely be rounded up to $1.

Let’s say you want a simple, economical car – such as a Honda Civic Coupe. Currently the starting list price on the vehicle, according to Honda’s Web site, is $15,305. If the VAT is passed at 25%, this starting list price will jump to $19,131.

Now factor in a house. Even if you’re looking for a small home at say, $65,000 – that price is going to jump to $81,250. A $250,000 home, like many selling here in the Salt Lake valley, has now jumped to $312,500.

Do you think that you’re saving money buying online?  A VAT bypasses sales tax issues and all online prices will jump up 25%.  That $150 iPod you’ve been thinking of treating yourself to, without adding additional features, memory or even changing the packaging: just changed to $188.  The federal government just took $38 from you because you want to listen to music.

Just keep doing the math yourself on the common things you buy. How about clothing? Cleaning products? Automotive supplies? Is gasoline going to be included in this as well, on top of the current federal fuel tax?  It’s as if you just got hit with a 20% net pay cut.

If you think you’re having a hard time making ends meet now…

All Hail the USSA

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

I dare any Obama supporter to defend this. Go ahead and try! Let’s hear your rationalizations trying to spin Obama’s new plan as being a “good thing”.  Try to defend policy as vile and insufferable to the Constitution as anything Bush managed.  Try to defend a policy of indefinite detention of “suspected terrorists”, with no charges filed, no trial at all – just imprisonment on the word of a new “judicial” system outside of the Constitutional judicial system.

The only change this country got with Obama behind the Executive branch, was that he’s a better liar than Bush is. His policies are just as horrid, just as contemptible and just as gut wrenchingly disgusting as anything we saw during the Bush years. Further, Obama’s policies are being added onto the policies Bush established – none of which have been repealed. Wake up, Obamatons – you’ve been had.

Change, my ass!

Casting Pearls Before Swine Flu

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

President Obama is asking congress for $1.5 billion to combat swine flu.

Excuse me, but what’s the damn panic all about? Swine flu is not a “pandemic” with 150 dead world wide. Tuberculosis kills 1.6 million a year and we don’t see a bloody panic over it.

Not only is this an artificially created panic, but it’s not the first time we’ve gone through these scare tactics.

This video shows a couple of commercials run by the government in 1976.

Note that the “outbreak” which prompted the Ford administration scare, infected 200 and killed one in Fort Dix, New Jersey.

The CDC is simply cranking up the fear factor on this one.

Addendum, 2009-05-02: according to this article from the Associated Press, “Worldwide, the total confirmed cases numbered more than 650, although officials believe there are many more.”

650 cases of swine flu, out of 6.5 billion people is a pandemic? 1/10,000,000 of the world population is a pandemic? You have got to be kidding me!

Do any of these swine  fools in the press, the WHO or the CDC even know what the word “pandemic” means? They’re simply repeating a buzz word because it sounds scary and the more fear they can crank up, the more control the government can impose.

Bear in mind the following when you’re dealing with a member of the Terrified of Their Own Shadow crowd:

“… most U.S. cases have been relatively mild and have not required a doctor’s visit…”

Some “killer disease” this is…
